Apple is preparing several monitors, including a new Pro Display XDR
Apple is currently developing new monitors and one of them will be a new version of the Pro Display XDR, according to information from Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.
Details about Apple’s new displays are sketchy at this time, except that the new monitors would have Apple Silicon chips, as is already the case with the current Studio Display. This model embeds the A13 chip, the same found in the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max. The chip handles some functionality related to the built-in webcam and microphone. The scenario will be similar for the next models.
A new version of the Pro Display XDR must therefore see the light of day, but what will the other models be? There is no information at the moment. One wonders if Apple intends to renew the Studio Display. This 27-inch 5K display debuted in March 2022, so it’s still recent. For its part, the current Pro Display XDR was born in December 2019, alongside the Mac Pro.
According to previous rumors, Apple is preparing a new 27-inch monitor with a Mini-LED display. It would debut in the first quarter of 2023. Technically, it could be a Studio Display with ProMotion. This is the market name given by Apple for the variable display rate up to 120Hz. It’s already a reality on MacBook Pro, iPhone and iPad Pro.
