She knows people who underwent IVF treatment, adopted a child and put all their savings into fertility treatments. ‘As a mother who wants to have children, you blindly step into a pregnancy process, simply because you have no idea what the outcome will be: there is no set checklist that promises you a pregnancy.’

‘Don’t Give Up Hope’

“Paying attention to your diet, monitoring your ovulation and not smoking: of course you can increase the chance of a pregnancy,” Stacy continues. ‘But unfortunately that does not provide one hundred percent certainty either. So all I want to say to hopeful mothers is; don’t give up hope. Families are formed in so many different ways. And just because you’re not following a predictable path doesn’t mean you’re taking the wrong path. It’s your path. ‘
