Whatsapp tries out a group of 1024 people
Good news for people with a very large group of friends. Or for people who want to have a group conversation with the entire neighborhood. Whatsapp is expanding the number of participants in a group conversation.
Whatsapp often tests different functions. Not all functions that are tested are actually added to Whatsapp. It is also questionable whether this expansion to a maximum of 1024 participants in a group conversation will become a new function.
How do you start a group on Whatsapp?
With Whatsapp you have the option to chat with multiple people at the same time. How do you do this? Open Whatsapp, go to ‘more options’ and click on ‘new group’. Once the group has been created, you can add participants to the group here.
You can also invite people to a Whatsapp group by means of a link. If you are an administrator of the group, you can easily reset the link. This will invalidate the previous invite link again.
How do you do this? Open the Whatsapp group and tap the group topic. Then click on ‘invite via link’. Here you have the choice to share the link via Whatsapp, copy the link to your clipboard or share your link via another app using a QR code.
Current Whatsapp Group Limit
At the moment, 512 participants can be added to a group on Whatsapp. This number of participants has only been added as a function to Whatsapp since last June. Before June, you could add (only) 256 participants to a group conversation. Especially if you compare it with the competition, Whatsapp lags behind in this.
How about the competition?
Whatsapp is therefore testing a group conversation with 1024 participants within a group conversation, but what about the number of participants at the competitors? For example, on Telegram you can add up to 200,000 users to a group conversation.
For example, you can also make video calls with a thousand people at the same time. Of these thousand participants, a maximum of 30 participants can actively participate in the conversation. The other 970 people are viewers.
