Apple wants to offer ‘subscription on iPhone’
Nowadays you have a subscription for almost everything. Apple is also following this trend and wants to offer a subscription for the iPhone hardware before the end of this year.
What does such a subscription look like?
Last Wednesday, September 9, Apple announced the launch of the new iPhone 14 line. This line is the most expensive line of the well-known brand Apple ever made! The cheapest model is available with a suggested retail price of over a thousand euros. You see that many people spread this by taking out a subscription with a telephone provider.
Apple itself wants to offer a subscription model for iPhones. This does not concern short-term, but rather long-term subscriptions. The exact amount has yet to be determined. The intention is to bind customers to Apple for as long as possible with this subscription model, by charging a fixed amount per month.
Benefits of the new subscription model
The biggest advantage if you as a consumer take out the new subscription model, is that you get the opportunity to use the latest iPhone model every year. Whether this also applies to the latest iPads and Apple Watches remains to be seen.
Also the option for unlimited repairs is what Apple is thinking about. Last week, Apple already expanded the conditions for the Apple Care+ considerably. You now have unlimited access to Apple if you need repairs. You pay a deductible for this. However, theft is currently still excluded from the conditions for the Apple Care + option.
What this will look like for subscribers is not yet clear. Apple hopes to be able to tell more about the option to subscribe to the iPhone this year. We keep a close eye on developments!
