I saved so much money with my mini solar system
My balcony power plant was happy about many hours of sunshine in June 2022. But there was also a lot of rain, so I couldn’t use the full potential. Today we look at the yield in June 2022. How much energy did I produce, how much of it wasted and what did I actually use? That’s exactly my savings.
Mini solar systems are a great way to reduce energy costs. The prices for electricity are rising and if you have a place for a balcony power plant, you should use it for that too. My mini solar system has been running for over a year and I have set up many systems for friends and acquaintances. I want to show you with concrete numbers whether all this is worth it at all. The sellers always promise a very high saving. I bring you the actual facts – month after month.
Balcony power plant in June 2022
June 2022 was very good. It was the most profitable month of my mini solar system career so far. The 600 watt system has produced a total of 71.36 kWh. My best month so far was 67 kWh. I am very satisfied with that. Theoretically, there would be even more if my system weren’t shaded for 2 to 3 hours a day.
So how much money have I saved on electricity costs in June 2022?
- Yield: 71.36 kWh
- Energy not used: 12 kWh
- Energy used: 59.36 kWh
My total consumption for the apartment, cellar, charging e-bike, garden tools and so on was 160 kWh in June 2022. I paid almost 100 kWh of this to my energy supplier. I produced 59.36 kWh myself and did not pay for it. That makes a saving of 18 euros in June 2022 at a kWh price of about 30 cents for me. I gave away 12 kWh worth 3.60 euros accordingly.
Why couldn’t I use all the energy?
In contrast to a classic solar system on the roof, you have to use the electricity produced immediately with a plug-in mini solar system that is only plugged into the socket. I can do that pretty well by working from home and making some changes in everyday life. So I give away relatively little energy and therefore have a lot of savings.
There is no remuneration for feeding in excess energy. Therefore, a simplified registration also applies to such mini solar systems. Everything is cheaper and much simpler than with a large solar system, but you have to be more careful that you use the energy produced at that precise moment.
