Sure there is sometimes a fuss about screens, but most mothers are secretly overjoyed that these things exist. So is Kim (38), mother of Belle (10).

“For her tenth birthday, Belle got – in addition to some other small gifts – my old iPhone. She’d been begging for it for ages and all her friends had one. Until now, it has seldom been discussed. And on holiday we use longer times, then she can also use her phone earlier, or in the evening. But she has to ask for that first, then my boyfriend and I can adjust the screen time through our own phones. Ideal. Not only because then we can also enjoy an undisturbed holiday, but especially because Belle is then obliged to rest for a while, between romping around on the campsite.”
