Jurassic World Evolution 2 alluded to: Dino sequel with depth

Jurassic World Evolution returns and lets you build and manage your own amusement park full of voracious dinosaurs again in the second part. We were allowed to try out the building game and tell you our impressions.

Get off the island

Why doesn’t anyone listen to Jeff Goldblum? Since the first movie, he has been warning in the role of Dr. Malcolm advises that an amusement park with cloned dinosaurs isn’t the very best idea in the world.

Five films and two games later, his concerns have come true again and again, but apparently nobody has learned from them, on the contrary. As seen in the last movie Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom, the dinosaurs are not only making Isla Nublar and Islar Sorna unsafe, but have also conquered the North American mainland.

Accordingly, the game’s campaign does not begin in the tropics but in the snow-capped mountains of Washington. There, poachers locked a pair of Carnotaurs in enclosures that were much too small. Our first official act is to stun the two carnivores, free them from their cages and guarantee that they are kept in a species-appropriate manner.

Jurassic World Evolution 2 offers new areas and climates, like these snowy mountains.

More decisions, more responsibility

The care of the voracious protégés has become a bit more complex than in the previous one. Among other things, we are no longer all-knowing about the condition of the dinosaurs. Instead, you have to get a Ranger Post are in sight, which is also manned by one of our rangers.

Larger parks with more dinosaurs also require more staff, which leads to more micromanagement than in the predecessor. Incidentally, the well-being of the staff also plays a role. If you ignore the needs of the dinosaurs, you don’t need to be surprised about destroyed fences and nibbled park visitors afterwards. On the other hand, those who overwork their employees risk strikes or even sabotage.

Jurassic World Evolution 2 staff
Not only the dinosaurs, but also your staff must be fine in Jurassic World Evolution 2, otherwise your park threatens to fail.

The complexity of the park management increases noticeably compared to its predecessor, but still feels understandable and logical. When about two dinosaurs died of starvation in their enclosures after a while, the amazement was great. There were feeding stations! That’s right, but these only feed carnivores in Jurassic World Evolution 2. Herbivores feed on their surroundings. When designing the enclosures, you must pay close attention to what type of vegetation is necessary and what minerals are present in the soil so that the dinosaurs are well taken care of.

What happened if?

While we were able to try out the new campaign as well as the Challenge Mode known from its predecessor on our launch date, Jurassic World Evolution 2 contains another innovation. The chaos theory mode lets you re-enact key moments from the film series, but this time you’re on the lever and may be able to prevent the tragic outcome of iconic scenes.

So if while watching the films you were of the opinion from time to time that this or that death could have been avoided, you will soon be able to put these theories into practice. Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to try this new mode yet, but we’re all the more excited when Jurassic World Evolution 2 is expected on November 9, 2021 for PC, PlayStation 5, PS4 as well as Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S appears.
