In this questionnaire we ask the founders and participants of the Vox show “The Lion’s Den” questions about their products and experiences on the show. This time: Raphael Seiler, founder of Stack (Grill).

Stack Grill: Mobile grill with plug-in system

BASIC thinking: Hello Raphael, you are in the thirteenth season of “The Lion’s Den”. How does that feel?

A really great feeling. I’ve been a fan of the show since season one. With my problem solver, the Stack Grill, I now had a great product to apply to “The Lion’s Den” – with success. It was an incredible experience and I am now looking forward to working with Ralf and his team.

What makes your Stack product so special?

Basically, there are many grills on the market. But not one that solves all known problems in one product. The Stack Grill is small and handy, easy to transport and can be grilled within approx. 10 minutes without annoying blowing or waving.

With sufficient heat, you can grill for a long time and the grilling experience is crowned by an atmospheric fireplace, which serves as a source of heat and light. The grill company can end the barbecue experience in a relaxed manner.

The concept behind the Stack Grill

How did you come up with the idea and concept of the Stack Grill?

The idea came to me during my studies because we always had the same problems there when it came to grilling. It started with the hassle of transporting the heavy and large grill to the desired location, followed by a long heating up.

The evening ended with a sudden departure from the BBQ party after the sun had set and it was getting cold and uncomfortable. I was looking for a solution for this and the Stack Grill was born.

“The Lion’s Den”

And how did you end up in The Lion’s Den?

As already mentioned, I’m a big fan of “The Lion’s Den”. Problem solvers are often very popular with the lionesses and lions, which is why I applied with my grill. Of course, when I was accepted for a pitch in the cage, I was very happy.

What was on your mind just before your pitch?

1,000 thoughts shoot through your head. Suddenly the door opens and you can present your own product – an unbelievable moment.

How did the subsequent negotiations go?

Shortly after the shoot and the deal with Ralf Dümmel, there was a kick-off meeting at Ralf’s company headquarters in Stapelfeld. Of course, Ralf was also there in person and I was able to get to know his entire team. The first course was set for the future together, it was a very exciting and beautiful day for me.

What has happened to you and your product since shooting and participating?

In the last few months I have been able to develop both personally and entrepreneurially. I am happy to see how the Stack brand develops every day. One or the other adjusting screw was also turned on the grill. It was a very close cooperation with Ralf’s team and I am now looking forward to the future.

Stack Grill: Here we go

And how does it continue? What are the next steps?

Of course, my starting position has changed completely. From the beginning, the small workshop in my parents’ basement, to Ralf’s large team, with whom one is in exchange. The work is a lot of fun and there are some important dates coming up. Summer is just around the corner and the barbecue season has already begun.

Looking back, how would you rate your experience at The Lion’s Den?

Participating in “The Lion’s Den” was an incredibly great experience for me personally, but also for my start-up stack. I’m looking forward to the future and can only recommend every founder to try their luck as well.
