For PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch: The GIGA editorial team is looking forward to these games in 2023

2022 has been a mixed year in terms of new games. For many it could have been more, but the year 2023 already has a lot in store. Which games for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S and Nintendo Switch are the GIGA editors looking forward to? We tell.

2023 will be a great year for games

Some good games came out this year with Elden Ring, God of War Ragnarök, The Last of Us Remake, Overwatch 2 and more. But the year 2023 could be better and a few are already known. In this series of pictures, we’ll tell you which games the GIGA editors are looking forward to. Maybe there is one or the other for you too.

diablo 4

The attempt to combine the best of Diablo 2 and 3 looks very promising so far, although I’m still skeptical about the MMO elements like the shared open world and the encounters with other players. But 2 and 3 are some of my all-time favorites, so I’m going to descend into the hells of part 4 and smash every single demon into the ground.

Also high on my list:

Stalker 2, Forza Motorsport 8, Street Fighter 6 and Starfield. Not only, but also because I’m curious to see what they can tease out of the new consoles.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink

I’ve been waiting for this since 2016!!! I finally want to immerse myself in this grandiosely designed anime world and fire off one full-screen attack after the other at my opponents. My bleeding heart cannot take another year.

I’m also looking forward to:

Final Fantasy 16

I quote: “Final Fantasy 16 is not for teenagers – too much sex, too much violence”.

Definitely sounds like something I would play (and makes me forget about parts 13 and 15).

I’m very excited about diablo 4because I was able to play the closed beta on the PlayStation 5 and find the dark setting and the new possibilities in the game very promising.

I’m really looking forward to it Forspoken, Black Myth: Wukong and Overwatch 2’s PvE mode. With Forspoken it’s the action packed gameplay (can’t wait to zap around with spells), with Wukong it’s the graphics (RiP my RTX 2070) and with Overwatch it’s just the addiction. Even the seasonal PvE activities were always great fun.

Hollow Knight Silksong

While no release date has been set, we were promised at the Summer Game Fest that it would be released this year. My excitement and that of the whole community knows no bounds and I can’t wait to finally see Hornet’s acrobatic platforming skills in action.

I’m incredibly excited Atomic Heart. The game not only looks extremely chic, but also looks refreshingly different. It seems to have original ideas and create a world that you really want to immerse yourself in.

I’m really up for it Destiny 2: Lightfall. The legendary level of difficulty of the campaign from the “Witch Queen” DLC really challenged me again after a long time and brought back the fun in the story of Destiny. A similarly good campaign in an interesting and modern cyberpunk setting could rob me of many hours of free time again.

Like a Dragon Ishin: Yakuza in feudal Japan with samurai fighting action and I don’t even have to run Google Translator to understand what I have to do – what more could you ask for? And then it comes in February.

I rarely look forward to AAA titles because I’m more the indie game lover. but Hogwarts legacy picks up where the first Harry Potter Games left off 20 years ago and brings back so many positive childhood memories. Even though my hardcore Potter days are over, it would be great to get back into the world that meant so much to me back then.

with Granblue Fantasy Relink a game will also be released, which I really hope will help me to find a better connection to the world of Phantagrande, because unfortunately I got into the mobile game too late and was too overwhelmed. The character design and storytelling was extraordinary in Granblue Fantasy. Now seeing all these characters in a 3D RPG world is a dream come true. I hope my favorite characters like Belial find their way there.

Apparently it’s supposed to be 2023 Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 come from Insomniac Games. That’s what I’m looking forward to the most so far. While the combat isn’t particularly innovative, the swinging around NYC is breathtaking and the characters interesting and complex.

I don’t think I used fast travel once in the first part because the swinging was just so good. So far the only game where I haven’t used the fast travel feature.

Track Mania (2020) dares at the beginning of 2023 – an exact date is not yet known – finally dares to jump from the PC to the consoles. I’m looking forward to it like Bolle.

I’ve been a Trackmania fan for many years, including spending 2021 on and off with the plan to collect all Trackmaster medals in the PS4 version of Trackmania Turbo (2016) – current status: 70 out of 200.

I’ve also played the newer Trackmania from 2020, of course, but not too much due to its previous PC exclusivity. The upcoming console version with crossplay and cross-progression suits me perfectly.

I already know from the PC version that Trackmania 2020 is extremely varied, has sophisticated driving physics and, thanks to the integrated editor, has practically unlimited track supplies. Above all, the game is free-to-play with a fair subscription model. I just hope that before release, Nadeo gets the performance issues plaguing the PC version under control. Then this could already be a contender for the game of the year 2023 for me.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The predecessor already had a great story and probably the best lightsaber gameplay ever. If they just do it all over again (and without any EA bells and whistles) then it will be one of the best games of the year for me.

Black MythWukong has what it takes for me to be game of the year 2023. I’m a graphics sucker through and through. The fantasy setting impresses in the trailers and for a good 2 years now I really can’t wait anymore. In addition, Game Science took the journey west as a template for their epic monster slicer. Whatever Dragon Ball games out there, this version of the story is sure to outperform.

The GIGA editorial team is looking forward to games from a wide variety of genres in 2023. More great titles are sure to be announced in the coming months. We will keep you up to date!
