Silkslide Pro: The world’s first razor
The Silkslide Pro is the world’s first nose hair razor. It can be reused several times and does not require electricity or batteries. Its ergonomic shape is also adapted to the inner walls of the nose. In contrast to comparable products, it does not pluck the nose hair, but shaves it with high-quality blades.
Founder Alexander Weese developed the Silkslide Pro with ENT specialists. This makes the nose hair razor not only practical and effective, but also hygienic and safe. Weese was able to win over an investor with his product on the Vox show “Die Höhle der Löwen”. He made a deal with entrepreneur Ralf Dümmel.
Without electricity, without batteries, without pain: That is the Silkslide Pro
BASIC thinking: Hello Alexander, you are part of the eleventh season of “The Lion’s Den”. How does that feel?
There is a lot of excitement around the broadcast now. Of course we are also a little proud and look forward to what is to come.
What makes your product so special?
The Silkslide Pro razor is an uncomplicated way to quickly remove annoying and unaesthetic nose hair. In our opinion, it belongs in every toiletry bag.
It is very important that our product is only about the aesthetically disturbing hairs on the outer edge of the nose. Nose hair itself is important because it has an important filtering function.
Silkslide Pro: The idea and the concept
How did you come up with the idea and your concept?
First of all, of course, I was affected by the problem myself and was not satisfied with the available methods. But that’s the only reason why you don’t develop a product. I quickly realized that everything actually fits together here.
Huge target group, an innovation in the category was a long time coming and the competition looks after this category in a rather rudimentary manner.
Another point were the investment costs, which were calculable and manageable. From an economic point of view, it made perfect sense to deal with the topic more specifically.
And how did you end up in The Lion’s Den?
Establishing a brand in the consumer goods sector takes a lot of time and money. We don’t have either of these and the competition is fast and financially better equipped when it comes to me-too products. So it was clear to us that we should apply to the VOX start-up show “Die Höhle der Löwen”.
The pitch and the negotiations
What was going through your mind just before your pitch?
We wanted a deal, but we didn’t think it was a requirement for the success of Silkslide Pro. So you go into the pitch more relaxed. Of course I was nervous at first, but that quickly subsided and I was definitely satisfied with the pitch and my performance.
How did the negotiations go?
No problem, as we were well prepared and able to answer all questions. We didn’t have corpses in the basement.
What has happened to you and your product since shooting and participating?
We had a big kickoff meeting at the DS Group in Stapelfeld and since then we’ve been going full throttle in all processes with Ralf Dümmel and his team.
Silkslide Pro: This is how it goes now
What are the next steps?
Since we are now set up completely differently and we are spared many processes that we previously had to take care of, we can now fully concentrate on sales and marketing. Export is also starting and new products are in the pipeline.
Looking back, how would you rate your experience at The Lion’s Den?
We would do everything the same way again. It was the right decision.
