Parler hacker takes Telegram groups to QAnon

No time right now?

The hacker, who stole user data from the controversial Twitter alternative Parler, is now taking care of Telegram groups, which she attributes to the QAnon cosmos.

After the failure of the Parler short message service, users are looking for alternatives. At least in part, they seem to see it in the messenger Telegram, which has already proven itself to be a point of contact for people whose concerns cannot be found on other platforms.

Donk_Enby collects Telegram groups from the QAnon environment

A hacker, who can be found on Twitter under the Donk_Enby account, had already acquired 70 terabytes of user data – according to her own statements – during the Parler shutdown by Amazon and made it publicly available. In doing so, it exploited loopholes in the system that the operator Parler himself had torn.

Now she has targeted the users who switched from Parler to Telegram and used a scraper to aggregate public invite URLs into Telegram groups from the QAnon environment. The feature with the invite links Telegram implemented thisthat one click on the link is enough to join the corresponding group and take part in the group chat. Donk_Enby has already collected over 700,000 such invite links.

Access to the chat history opens up various possibilities

This means that everyone who knows the link is part of the respective group in no time and from now on is able to read the chat process and, with the appropriate technical skills, also copy and archive it. Github user Alexis-Evelyn already has a script called Telegram Archiver written for it.

Group access also allows the respective group admins to be identified, sometimes even with a telephone number. Identification of the group members can also be possible. Donk_Enby is only vague about the purpose of the action. Certainly law enforcement agencies could be interested in various types of content. To call this Donk_Enby’s goal would be speculation.
