These countries ban the new Diablo

Chop up some monsters on the way to work? Diablo Immortal makes that possible! What sounds like a great idea for publishers and developers Blizzard, was received quite mixed with the fans when it was announced in 2018.

Four years later, the controversial game should now be launched. At least in theory, because in practice the new Hack and Slay not available in all European countries. The Netherlands and Belgium are currently affected. There you will not find the game on June 2, 2022 in the corresponding stores.

There is no official reason for this circumstance, but it is reasonable to assume that that the Diablo Immortal in-game shop is to blame. The F2P game is financed through in-game purchases and loot boxes.

Why are loot boxes such a problem?

In Belgium, loot boxes are classified as gambling, resulting in Diablo Immortal breaking existing laws with its shop. The legal situation is a little different in the Netherlands, but the authorities there are also taking vehement action against loot boxes.

The decision to remove the new Diablo from their respective stores came very quickly though, because until recently Dutch and Belgian players could still register to access the role-playing game. This is no longer possible.

In Germany, Diablo Immortal should appear regularly on June 2nd for iOS and Android. A PC version of the game will launch on the same day. But this is a beta for the time being.
