65 years in prison due to Fitbit

In the United States, a man has been sentenced to 65 years in prison for the murder of his wife. Thanks to her Fitbit.

Richard Dabate, a 45-year-old computer engineer from Connecticut, nearly got away with his wife’s murder. However, his version of the crime was debunked by the victim’s Fitbit.

What happened?

The Fitbit murder took place in 2015. According to Richard, on December 23, he and his wife were ambushed by a thick masked robber with a dark voice like Vin Diesel’s. The imaginary robber broke into the couple’s house and shot the woman dead after asking for credit cards and PINs.

According to the not so good man, the burglar was disturbed because both came home independently of each other when the robber was raiding the house. Richard had forgotten his laptop and his wife Connie’s spinning class had been cancelled. And so they both came home unexpectedly.

The imaginative Richard found his wife murdered when he returned home and was himself attacked by “Vin Diesel” with a box cutter and tied to a chair with tie-wraps. However, the “hero” managed to get hold of a burner and wound the robber in the face and chase them away. He is said to have lost consciousness afterwards.

The local detectives didn’t believe Dabate’s story. He had almost no injuries and was tied to a folding chair. In addition, no one in the area had seen or heard anything from a robber.

Wife Connie was wearing a Fitbit during the murder and it was ultimately fatal to the perpetrator. According to the data from the wearable, the lady was still walking around and was active, while according to Richard’s statement she was already dead. She also posted videos via her iPhone. So his story didn’t add up.

Guilty

The motive for killing the woman is said to be an extramarital pregnancy with another woman. According to the convict, no affair, but an appointment with Connie to have another child, since she was no longer medically able to do that.

All in all very unbelievable according to the jury. So guilty and behind bars for the next 65 years thanks to his wife’s Fitbit.
