1. Protect apps with passcode or Face ID

There are all kinds of reasons why you want to protect one or more apps. Especially when your children regularly use your iPhone, it is sometimes quite handy. All the better that this is now possible! You can easily set it up with this first trick of our iPhone tips.

Protect apps with a passcode or Face ID on iPhone

  1. Open the ‘Assignments’ app and tap ‘Automation > Personal Automation’;
  2. Scroll down, tap ‘App > Select’;
  3. Tap the app you want to protect and tap Done;
  4. Tap ‘Next > Add task’, type ‘Start timer’ in the search field;
  5. Tap ‘Start timer’, adjust 30 minutes in ‘1 seconds’ and tap ‘Next’;
  6. Uncheck the ‘Ask before run’ option and tap ‘Done’;
  7. Open the ‘Clock’ app and tap ‘Timer’;
  8. Tap ‘When timer ends’, choose ‘Stop playing > Set’.

Now when you try to open the app that you have protected, you will see that it will stop again after one second. You can only continue after that if you enter your passcode or use Face ID. An extra tip: do you want to add more apps that should not be launched on your iPhone? You can do that during step 3!

2. Add a note to a password

The passwords on your iPhone can be found in the ‘Settings’, under ‘Passwords’. You now have the option to add a note to certain passwords. Very useful if you need to remember something specific.

Add notes passwords

Tap the desired password, then tap Add Notes. The note you add will, of course, sync across all your other devices.

3. Quickly launch your last played song in Apple Music

Do you have a favorite song that you just can’t get enough of? Then there is a good chance that it is your last played song and of course you want to play it again as soon as possible.

There’s a handy, new, and super-fast way to do that: press and hold the Apple Music icon and a menu will appear. In that menu, all you have to do is tap ‘Play most recent’ and you can enjoy yourself again!

4. Expert iPhone Tips: Safari’s Experimental Features

In Safari it is possible to try out experimental functions. These WebKit features are made for developers, but you can experiment with more if you want.

You can find the experimental features in the ‘Settings’ app, under ‘Safari’. Scroll down and tap Advanced. Then tap on ‘Experimental Features’. You will now see a large list of options, which for the average user are largely abracadabra. But by searching Google for the name of the option you want to enable, you will find out what the function does.

We found an extra trick while creating these iPhone tips. Until now you had to remember what you had adjusted, but now you will find the option ‘Restore all default settings’ at the bottom. With this you put everything back and you don’t have to be afraid to play with the settings. You will not lose any saved data from your browser.

5. Apple TV: Up Next view as poster art

In Apple TV, Up Next shows a paused image of the show or movie by default. You can choose to replace this image with images that are used to promote the title in question.

To do this, go to ‘Settings’ and tap on ‘TV’. Scroll down and tap “View Up Next”. There is a check mark next to ‘Still image’. You can change this simply by tapping ‘Poster Illustration’.

You probably already know the SOS emergency notification function, but Apple has adjusted the settings in the latest version of iOS. They are now set to ‘Call with and hold’ by default. The ‘Call with five pushes’ option still exists, but you have to activate it manually to be able to use it.

  • Open your iPhone’s ‘settings’;
  • Scroll down and tap ‘Emergency Notification’;
  • Turn on the ‘Call with five pushes’ option.
