5x why the Apple Watch Series 8 will steal the show in September

During the keynote in September, Apple will of course present the new iPhone 14, but this year the Apple Watch Series 8 steals the show! We tell you why.

Read on after the ad.

Apple Watch Series 8 steal the show in September

Apple’s biggest star in September is usually the new iPhone. Even when the company introduced the first-ever Apple Watch at the ‘Wish we could say more’ event in 2014, it was eclipsed by the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, which got a dramatic new design and huge screen.

This fall could finally be different. The iPhone 14 will still be Apple’s biggest sales success this year, but it remains – if the rumors are to be believed – with a fairly minor update. Even the iPhone 14 Pro, which gets the bulk of the major updates, will largely be an S-like upgrade over last year’s iPhone 13 Pro.

Rumors about the Apple Watch Series 8 are circulating, and it looks like September will see the biggest change in Apple’s smartwatch history. From new sensors to new sizes, models and features, the Apple Watch lineup in 2022 could be the most exciting Apple has ever unveiled.

Here are five reasons why the Apple Watch announcement this fall could be even bigger than the iPhone!

1. We get a completely new model

In recent weeks, rumors have been circulating about the Apple Watch Pro, an all-new model of the smart watch. It seems to combine several rumors we’ve heard over the past year: a slimmer design, a larger display, a robust housing and new features aimed at ‘extreme athletes’. Although Apple will certainly make the model as expensive as the Edition watches (900 euros or more!) and aimed at a niche audience, it will mean a new strategy for Apple’s wearable.

Until now, Apple has separated its Apple Watch models by band (Nike, Hermès) or material (Edition). A new Pro line with a larger screen, on the other hand, would be an extension of the Apple Watch lineup, with specialized models for specific users. And if that turns out to be a success, we’re already looking forward to the future Apple Watches.

2. Better SE is coming

When the Apple Watch SE came on the market in 2020 for 299 euros, it was an exciting option. It fell between the Apple Watch Series 3 and the main model in price, offering a newer design with fewer features and sensors at an affordable price.

But two years later, it’s starting to get pretty old, especially without the always-on screen. Rumor has it that Apple will equip the SE with it this year, and that it will also get an ECG sensor and a faster processor. All this would make the watch even more attractive – especially if Apple is going to cut the price even more, see point number 3.

3. The Apple Watch 3 is finally retiring this year.

Why Apple is going to lower the price of the SE? Because everything points to Apple finally retiring the Watch Series 3.

The Series 3 is Apple’s worst entry-level product and is too weak, too small and unconvincing anyway. Bee iPhoned we’re happy when we’re done with it, but there’s a big question left. Will Apple replace it with something new? The Apple Watch SE is quite a bit more expensive than the Series 3, and Apple has been selling both side by side for two years. When the Series 3 is retired, will another model take its place? The Series 4? The old SE? Or the new SE with a lower price? We’ll have to wait a little longer.

4. The battery life will be much better

There are rumors that Apple will equip the Pro model with a larger battery, but the other Apple Watch models may also get a serious boost in battery life. The watch already has the Power Saver that disables all functions except a tiny digital clock. A new power-saving mode would be a much more useful way to spend longer with the Apple Watch on the road.

Rumor has it that this mode only disables certain functions and slows down the processor, just like on the iPhone. This would be a small game changer can be for the Apple Watch, especially if that mode ensures that you really don’t have to charge the watch every day.

5. A new sensor could measure fever

The Apple Watch Series 7 didn’t get any new sensors, but the Apple Watch Series 8 is rumored to finally get a temperature sensor. This should be able to predict women’s fertile days and may even warn you of an impending illness.

We are still struggling a bit with the impact of the coronavirus, so the ability to detect fever and temperature changes – before they are registered by a thermometer – would be a practical health feature. Another groundbreaking feature for the Apple Watch, of course.

What are you looking forward to?
