48 megapixels are really cool (here’s why)

The camera in the iPhone 14 Pro has received a number of significant improvements and cool new functions. iPhoned List the most important ones for you!

Read on after the ad.

iPhone 14 Pro camera: the most important improvements

The iPhone 14 Pro (and the iPhone 14 Pro Max) are again the showpieces of Apple this time and have therefore received the most upgrades. You can immediately see that the notch has disappeared and the black notch has made way for the impressive Dynamic Island.

In addition, the camera of the iPhone 14 Pro (Max) has received a number of significant improvements and cool new functions. When you look at the iPhone 14 Pro from the side, you immediately see that the camera bump has become somewhat thicker as a result. But Apple has of course also made the necessary adjustments internally.

First iPhone with 48-megapixel camera

The fact that the iPhone 14 Pro (Max) now has a 48-megapixel camera is one of the most important improvements. Apple has long stuck with the cameras at 12 megapixels, but now the main camera (this is the wide-angle lens) has made a big step forward.

The sensor has also become 65 percent larger with the wide-angle lens. This ensures that the camera receives even more light. The advantage of this? You’ll get better photos in poor lighting conditions. Incidentally, the sensor of the ultra-wide-angle lens and telephoto lens has also been upgraded. The telephoto lens is two times better in low light, the ultra-wide angle even three times.

Do you want to take pictures and is there a lot of light? Then you can shoot pictures in 48 megapixels with the ProRAW format. These photos have up to four times the resolution of standard photos and are perfect for cropping without losing detail. After all, you have a much larger photo to work in. This function is therefore especially suitable for avid iPhone photographers.

iPhone 14 Pro (Max) pixel binning

By default, the iPhone 14 Pro (Max) shoots photos with 12 megapixels. That may sound a bit strange, but Apple uses a clever trick. When you take a photo, the iPhone 14 Pro (Max) uses ‘pixel binning’. Joins four adjacent pixels together. This ensures that you get an even sharper photo, with less noise, even in low light.

In addition, the camera also has more zoom options. You can now use 0.5x, 1x, 2x and 3x zoom. This allows you to take full-resolution photos and 4K videos, without digital zoom. By the way, you can also use the zoom options in Portrait mode, timelapse and panorama mode.

Front camera has also been upgraded

Of course, Apple has also upgraded the front camera. This camera now has autofocus, so your iPhone automatically focuses properly. Gone are the days of blurry selfies! In addition, the camera has a larger aperture, so that your photos and selfies are even sharper.
