3 (more) tricks for Google Translate mobile. Do you know these too?
An agreement with a foreign language speaker, reading a menu for a holiday abroad or, for example, understanding the content of the entire website or application. There are many opportunities to have a mobile phone with instant translation at hand. If you sometimes need something like this, Google Translation will most likely be your first choice. It’s been about three months since we gave you three tricks for more efficient use of this application. And since we then received several responses, we bring three more tipswith which you should make full use of this handy tool. They are no longer so secret or unknown, but maybe they will surprise you anyway…
3 (more) tricks for Google Translate
Translation via camera: Did you know that not only purely textually or aurally, but also in general visually, it is possible to submit documents to the Translator for processing? For example, it’s a scanned document, a photo, or even a live view through a lens. Especially the last mentioned function is very interesting. When you click on Camera on the main tab below the text box, the application opens the camera, which you just point at the captions and wait for the result. If you do not necessarily need a live translation, you can “scan” the area in front of the lens and have the recognized parts of the text translated, for example, separately after marking with your finger. Importing already captured images also works.
Languages saved for offline translations: Do you want to be sure that the application will fulfill its role even if you are not connected to the Internet for any reason? To be sure, open the Offline Translation menu in the main left menu and download the language pack you will need. Or even more if you want. One is only a few tens of megabytes in size and can save you from inconvenience.
Glossary of phrases: There are basic questions or instructions that are often repeated when contacting foreign language speakers. So why not simplify their re-use? You can save any phrase up to 300 characters through the asterisk in the dictionary located in the left menu. You do not have to repeat the same sentence over and over in the given language, but you just have to call it up by clicking. And then you have to let go. Phrases are also saved this way for the web version of Translator, so you can return to them when you put your phone away.
