The Pixel 6a also has a very good main camera, a beautiful design and long software support. All this puts the phone in our buying guide and in the list of the best compact smartphones.

  • Editor Sebastien: “The Google Pixel 6a is the phone I would recommend to anyone considering a mid-range smartphone. It has the fast Google Tensor chipset and with that it also gets a lot of smart software features that other phones don’t have. Most people for example, are amazed when they see Magic Eraser for the first time.”
  • Editor Laura: “I like one clean version of Android and Google Pixel 6a offers just that. The possibilities that Google brings in the field of photography can be found even in a non-high end device and that is impressive.”
  • Editor Jelle: “The Google Pixel 6a is one of the best smartphones under 500 euros. The smartphone owes this mainly to its fast processor and its incredibly good main camera. With this camera, the Pixel 6a is almost nothing compared to high -end smartphones, which is why we included the phone in the list of smartphones with the best cameras of 2022. However, the Pixel 6a is not perfect, for example, the screen with its 60 Hz is not very smooth and it loads device very slow.”
  • Editor Claudia: “Google Pixel phones are now officially available in the Netherlands, which means that you no longer have to import these phones. Would you like to get to know a phone as Google sees a phone? Then the Pixel 6a is the ultimate opportunity.”

2.Samsung Galaxy A53

The Galaxy A53 is one of Samsung’s most popular mid-range models and has received a number of improvements compared to the Galaxy A52 5G. For example, in addition to a variant with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage, there is also a version with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. Samsung has exchanged the 4,500 mAh of the A52 for a 5,000 mAh one in the A53. In addition, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G has been exchanged for the Exynos 1280 from our own factory.

The Galaxy A53 has a 6.5 inch FHD+ AMOLED screen with 120 Hz refresh rate and a total of five cameras. The phone can count on four new Android versions and five years of security updates.

  • Editor Sebastien: “The Samsung Galaxy A53 is the best-selling phone in the Netherlands and Belgium for a reason. It has a beautiful screen, a decent camera, a nice design that is waterproof and its battery lasts longer than that of a Galaxy S22. And you can’t argue with Samsung’s great update policy.”
  • Editor Laura: “Samsung is a popular brand in our country and you notice it. Earlier we already mentioned a Samsung as the best budget device and it was therefore inevitable that a Samsung would also be mentioned when it comes to mid-range devices.”
  • Editor Jelle: “In many areas, the Samsung Galaxy A53 was and is a minor disappointment, for example, the device has not improved on many points compared to its predecessor and it has even been downgraded on a number of points – for example the processor. Despite this, “The device is again very complete for its class. Thanks to Samsung’s improved update policy, this device does stand out, because you get four Android upgrades and five years of software updates.”
  • Editor Claudia: “The Samsung Galaxy A53 offers a pretty strong package for its suggested retail price. Add to that the excellent update policy and you can use it for years to come.”

In short: a premium feeling for a midrange price. That’s how you could describe the Nothing Phone (1) The lighting on the back of the smartphone may be a gimmick, but it does make the device unique. You can read more about it in my review.”
