’27-inch iMac to be released in early 2022 and changes spectacularly’

This year Apple launched a newly designed iMac with a 24-inch display, but a successor to the 27-inch iMac is not yet available. It will be published early next year, a reliable analyst reports. And there’s more news about the iMac 2022.

Read on after the ad.

27-inch iMac: Release in 2022

According to display analyst Ross Young, Apple plans to introduce a new 27-inch iMac in early 2022. It would have the same advanced screen as Apple recently gave the MacBook Pro models. The screen is equipped with mini LED technology and supports ProMotion.

You can see mini-LED as a kind of OLED, with high contrast values and deep blacks. ProMotion ensures that the screen refreshes up to two times faster: up to 120 Hz. Here is the refresh rate adaptive and the refresh rate fluctuates between 24 and 120 Hz.

Screen size

Interestingly, Young predicts that the largest iMac will again have a 27-inch screen. The smaller iMac got a larger screen this year (from 21.5 to 24 inches), because Apple made the bezels around the screen much narrower. This left room for an extra-large display, while keeping the iMac about the same size.

The 24-inch iMac vs. the current 27-inch iMac

It’s very likely that the successor to the 27-inch iMac will have the same design as its smaller brother, so it would have made sense if the screen of the largest iMac also grew a bit. Earlier rumors were based on a 30 or 32-inch display. However, display analyst Young is highly reliable – for example, he was the first to report on a 2021 MacBook Pro with ProMotion display. So there is a good chance that this rumor is true.

High end iMac

The 2021 24-inch iMac is already quite powerful, but the larger iMac seems to be becoming a kind of Pro version. Apple not only puts in a much more advanced screen, but also a much more powerful chip. We expect the 27-inch iMac 2022 to be configurable with the new M1 Pro or M1 Max, which are making their first appearance with the MacBook Pro 2021 models. According to Apple, they are about 70 percent faster than the M1 of the 24-inch iMac 2021.
