2 new useful new features for Chrome password manager
Google will soon let you manually add passwords to Chrome’s password manager, and it is also working on the ability to add notes to a saved password. Both functions are currently under development and you can already test them.
Notes on passwords
There are plenty of good password managers out there and using such a tool really helps you create unique passwords. Whether you use Lastpass, Dashlane or Google’s own password manager in Chrome. Often, the latter option appeals to users because they find it convenient that their passwords are built right into their browser.
Google is now also working on improvements to Chrome’s password manager. First of all, you will be able to add notes to your passwords. Such a word of explanation can help you to better distinguish between different accounts and you can add any security questions. This feature was first discovered by a Reddit user and is already available with the unstable Chrome Canary desktop browser.
Manually add passwords
A second novelty that Google is working on behind the scenes is the option to manually save a password yourself, which was also apparent from a message on Reddit. Previously, you could add passwords using a pop-up notification that automatically appears when you create a new account or change a password. You can already activate the new manual method in the stable Chrome browser for desktop for the time being.
To get started with the feature, you need to use a ‘Chrome flag’, which is an experimental option that is free to test. Copy and paste the following link into your browser’s address bar: chrome://flags/#add-passwords-in-settings flag. Then you turn on the function Enabled and restart your browser.
