Zack Snyder is working on Army of the Dead sequel for Netflix

Yes! An undoubtedly bloody sequel is coming from Snyder’s Army of the Dead. Netflix will re-broadcast the film.

The good news came on Wednesday when The Hollywood Reporter announced that The Stone Quarry – a production company co-founded by Snyder – has signed a “first-look deal” with Netflix. Netflix was the distributor of Snyder’s Army of the Dead, which was released on May 21 this year.

Snyder is now working on a sequel to the hit film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he is working with one of the co-writers of the first film, Shay Hatten. Snyder says, “My goal and hope is to bring as much high-quality content as possible and do it on a massive scale. Big projects and big movies.”

It may take a while, as the filmmaker is currently working on another project. When this project called Rebel Moon is finished, he can get to work on the sequel. Rebel Moon is a sci-fi adventure film he is also making for Netflix.

Army of the Dead is not a film for the faint of heart. The lead role is played by Dave Bautista and Ella Purnell. And follows a group of people attempting a heist in Las Vegas amid a zombie apocalypse. Action and blood guaranteed.

The film received mixed to positive reviews, with The Hollywood Reporter noting: “There is no lack of excitement, suspense, funny camaraderie, sad losses, satisfying rewards, twists and turns to fill the generous running time, with plenty of variety in the bloody encounters. The energy and ingenuity on display here at all levels – not to mention the sly humor – make Army of the Dead a great epic franchise debut.”

The second part should therefore go further into this and that promises a lot of good.
