YouTube now has smart music ‘listening features’: that’s how it works

YouTube Premium subscribers will soon be able to enjoy music in YouTube more. You can now start handy music controls under each video. It consists of handy buttons for media control and an experience without disturbing factors.

YouTube Premium Listening Features

YouTube Premium is Google’s subscription that gives access to the YouTube Music streaming service and allows you to watch videos without interruptions due to advertising. A feature is now coming especially for Premium subscribers who occasionally watch music videos in the YouTube app. They can now use easier music controls, 9To5Google knows.

The ‘listening functions’ option, as they are called, automatically appears with music videos in a small pop-up message at the bottom. However, you can in principle open them with any video via the menu with the three dots and then the entire screen area below the video is occupied by media controls. It lets you play and pause, skip to the next video, and rewind or fast forward 10 seconds. There are also buttons to like a video, save it in a playlist or change the playback speed.

No disturbing elements

The idea is to give you a more streamlined experience. Normally the media control buttons disappear from view after a while, but the listening functions remain active all the time. Even if you go to the next video. It’s also handy that no pop-ups from related videos appear: you know those little thumbnail buttons at the end of a movie.
