YouTube Music app for Wear OS watch

Music service application developed by Google in addition to the operating system developed by Google. It sounds completely automatic, doesn’t it? However, in the case of the increasingly popular YouTube Music and Watch Wear OS, this combination is really only functional for a few days. So far, the first watches that are able to use it are the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 with Wear OS 3. It is in them that we have the application they tried.

The tool can usually be downloaded in the watch directly in Ochod Play. The tested current version is marked 4.41.42-WEAR_RELEASE and is approximately 11.5 MB in size. Once installed and running, it will prompt you to sign in to one of the YouTube accounts that your watch finds on your phone. Unfortunately, the application does not see company accounts at this time. Once you are logged in, you will come across the biggest limitations of connecting to a watch. The application is intended exclusively for playing songs downloaded from YouTube Musicwhich requires a Premium subscription. In addition to having to pay for the entire service, count on the tool at the moment, apparently can’t stream music from the internet.

After launching the application, three categories will appear on the screen – Downloaded, Recommended and Library. The first contains (and manually downloads) individual songs. In the second, there is a download of recommended mixes of songs, which the service has recently composed and offered itself. The third part will release you to your own Playlists. For reasons not yet specified, it is necessary to connect the watch to the charger before any download.

In Settings it is possible, in addition to switching user accounts or turning on the Restricted mode, which filters explicit content, also choose the so-called smart download. That is capable limit the number of downloaded songs so that there are not too many watches. Values ​​range from fifty to five hundred. In the same place there is a switch for downloading only via WiFi and a button for immediate deletion of downloaded content.

Although the watch has its own speaker, the YouTube Music app refuses to start playbackuntil you connect some Bluetooth audio accessories. Obviously, there is still room for improvement and users will, in addition to the desire to expand to other watch models, certainly be hungry for other features. We’ll see what Google comes up with.
