Young people are sending more and more nudes… And younger and younger!

A few decades ago, for someone to end up with a naked picture of you in their hands, that was cotton. You had to take it, then develop it, then give it. Nowadays, with the Internet and smartphones, it all takes just a few seconds…which some will bitterly regret all their life. A study today lifts the veil on the reality of this practice which is becoming more and more popular at a young age.

Nudes: pests forever

A study launched at the initiative of Ludovic Blécota clinical sexologist from Lille, has indeed been conducted over two years with 10,700 French and Belgians aged 13 to 25. The panel was composed of 7545 women and 3155 men. The subject : the exchange of “nudes”. The first question was very simple: have you already sent one or more nudes? At 74.5%, the answer was “Yes”. Even if this number may seem huge from the outside, it seems rather logical for the expert:

This high figure did not necessarily surprise us, in particular because the technological means available have given this practice a certain extent.

If he wanted to launch this consultation on a large scale, it was above all to have an accurate vision of the situation based on reality and not on what the hype might suggest of its actual proportions.

The exchanges with the professionals drew a rather alarmist report which was more related to a representation of the phenomenon than to reality.

The most publicized topic is that of secondary sharing of nude photos, that is, by a third party without the consent of the person who is the subject of it. We thus learn that nearly half of those surveyed who shared it were victims of it. We then see that people do not know how to react and protect themselves in the face of this problem since only 7.95% of them then filed a complaint. It’s very little and it must therefore be understood that the vast majority must then live knowing that nudes of them are circulating in nature. Like a Damocles sword hanging over their heads until the end of their lives. Knowing that shipments are also increasingly young.

Here, a message from Benjamin Griveaux…

Uncontrolled slippage

According to the results of the study, 17-year-olds are more likely to have sent this kind of naked photo than were the same age people today aged 18 to 25. Ludovic Blécot gives a clear analysis of this figure :

This clearly means that we send more and more young nudes. Except that, paradoxically, the age of first sexual intercourse does not change, established at 17 for a decade.

A method that demonstrates that the practice has become “normal” and no longer bears a singular character. We learn in the results that the sending is done on their own initiative for 82.76% of the respondents but also following a request from their partner for 64.07%. More troubling, 86.8% of people who sent nudes confess to having sent them outside of a relationship. A rather disconcerting evolution of the practice which shows that it has been completely democratized and is no longer considered transgressive or intrusive. Darker still, the study reveals that 3% of people who have ever sent a nude did so to get something back, such as services, money, sex or drugs. And there, we can see how serious the consequences of these innocent sharing can be.

However, if you have naked photos that you still want to keep on your smartphones but not in plain sight, we explain how to do it on Android. We even made a video tutorial for you.
