The risk of a power failure in Germany has so far been very low and is likely to remain very low. Nonetheless, it is recommended that citizens keep a small supply and have certain devices to help in an emergency.

Many people in Germany are afraid that the electricity will fail or that there will not be enough gas. Should that happen, you don’t have to be unprepared. You don’t have to be a prepper to take on the Recommendations of the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BKK) holds. For example, the electricity can go out during a storm and you should be prepared for the eventuality. Normally, the power supply in Germany is restored within an average of 10.6 minutes. The longest failure so far lasted six days during the snow chaos in Münsterland. The German power grid is therefore very reliable.
Nevertheless, you should be prepared if the worst case scenario occurs and the power goes out for a longer period of time. Then nothing works at all. There is no internet, light, water, all appliances are off and the heating could fail. So you should have essentials like a flashlight, blankets, bottled water, batteries and so on. Food is also an important point. There are official recommendations in Germany that guide you on what you should have as a supply for at least ten days. This includes fresh water, of course, but also food that does not need to be refrigerated. A refrigerator that is no longer powered will keep the cold for about 24 hours. Check supplies and equipment regularly
So that you don’t end up with spoiled food and empty batteries in the event of a power failure, you should regularly check how your supplies are doing. How long can the products still be kept? Does the flashlight still work? You should have a small emergency radioto be able to inform you (look at Amazon). This can be powered with a crank and also has a light. With your cell phone you can quickly do nothing without internet.
