When you’re new to being a mom, you’re in for a lot of surprises. Abbie Herbert breastfeeds her six-month-old daughter and recently made a remarkable discovery. Her daughter has a preferred breast from which she prefers to drink. ‘No problem, I thought. If you prefer to drink from my right breast, that’s fine,” Abbie said. She also does not express her left breast. Consequence? Her right breast produces much more milk than her left, because it is never actually ‘used’. And that makes it about three times as big.

Crazy and awkward

According to Abbie, her right breast is as hard as stone. “It feels so crazy and uncomfortable,” she says. Before going to bed, her breasts are still somewhat the same size. But because daughter Poppy sleeps twelve hours at night, she wakes up with one mega breast. Tip for mothers with the same problem: put your baby on his non-favorite breast first. Don’t turn him over, but put him in the same position as on his preferred chest.
