A serious vulnerability has emerged in Google’s Chrome browser. According to Google, this has already been exploited by attackers. Users should definitely install an update for the browser in order to avoid risks.

Google Chrome: Update makes browsers more secure

According to Google, it has one comprehensive vulnerability discovered in the desktop version of the Chrome browser and closed it. According to the group, the gap has already been exploited, so it’s not just a theoretical threat to users. The update provided in the next few days should be installed in any case, especially since ten other security-related problems will also be eliminated.

Google is currently finding one “Insufficient Validation” in Chrome Browser takes place when data is forwarded to another application (source: Google Chrome releases). In some cases, such a forwarding is intentional – for example via the share button in the browser – but the function can also be misused for harmful purposes.

With more details about the vulnerability Google is still holding back. That could change once the update is actually available for download and most users have updated their browsers to the latest version.

Dangers lurk not only in the browser, but also on the phone:

Chrome: Google’s own group discovers vulnerability

The vulnerability was reported by Ashley Shen and Christian Resell from Google’s Threat Analysis Group (TAG). The group had already done a great job in the past and, among other things, discovered a hacker group that actively exploited no fewer than eleven security holes. The gaps have now been closed. TAG also analyzes malware like the state trojan from the Italian company RCS Labs.
