You didn’t know these 5 changes in iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4

iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 have been out for a few days now, but have you discovered all the new features yet? You probably didn’t know about these 5 changes in iOS 15.4.

Read on after the ad.

Changes in iOS 15.4 include more than just new emojis

In case you didn’t know yet: iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 are available for the iPhone and iPad. The update brings a number of significant features, such as using Face ID with a mouth cap and a number of new emojis. However, Apple has made a lot of small changes that you don’t see at first glance. We briefly explain some changes in iOS 15.4 in this article.

Dynamic volume buttons on the iPad

The iPad Air and iPad Pro have a symmetrical screen edge, so visually it doesn’t matter how you hold it. There is practically no top or bottom. However, the buttons of the tablet simply remain in place. That is sometimes quite confusing – it sometimes happens that you accidentally turn the volume down, while you want to turn it up.

Apple has come up with something for that in iPadOS 15.4. In settings you will now find a new option ‘Fixed position volume controls’. This option is enabled by default. This keeps the volume up and down buttons in a fixed position. If you disable the option, the buttons change dynamically based on the orientation of your iPad.

More Detailed Find My Notifications

Alerts you get from the Find My app have gotten a lot more specific in iOS 15.4. Is an unknown pair of AirPods Pro moving with you? Then you will clearly get a warning that says ‘AirPods Pro detected’. So you no longer see the vague ‘Unknown accessory detected’, so you didn’t know what to look for.

Apple is doing everything it can to make the Find My app clearer and, above all, more secure. There are still regular reports of stalking practices with Apple’s AirTags.

New Green Wallpapers for iPhone 13 (Pro)

Apple delivers the brand new green iPhone 13 and alpine green iPhone 13 Pro with matching green live wallpapers. With the arrival of iOS 15.4, Apple is also bringing these wallpapers to the other iPhone 13 (Pro) smartphones, regardless of the color. That way you still have a bit of fun with the green iPhones, if you already have a different color at home.

Adjust Magic Keyboard key brightness in Control Center

Do you use your iPad Pro or iPad Air in combination with a Magic Keyboard? You can now adjust the brightness of the keys in Control Center. However, don’t forget that you have to sit in a dark environment first, otherwise the lights in the keyboard will automatically turn off.

The Magic Keyboard shortcut does not just appear in Control Center either. You have to do this yourself via the Settings app. This can be done via the ‘Control panel’ heading. Then tap the plus icon for the ‘Keyboard brightness’ option.

Minor design changes in iOS 15.4

As always, Apple is also making some design changes in iOS 15.4. The changes are small. For example, a number of new icons can be found in the Assignments app and the Business news in the Shares app will be displayed more clearly from now on. Finally, the pop-up you get when you open an AirPods case next to your iPhone looks slightly different.

More changes in iOS 15.4

In addition to all kinds of new features, iOS 15.4 has become more secure again and annoying bugs have been fixed. From now on you can also unlock your iPhone with Face ID while wearing a face mask! Previously, this caused a lot of frustration in, for example, the supermarket or train. However, you will not need this function for very long, since the mouth mask obligation will soon disappear completely.

Apple also adds Universal Controls with iPadOS 15.4, which lets you use your Mac’s cursor to control your iPad. In addition, the feature makes it easier to share files between different devices.
