You can now earn money with your old phone via KPN

KPN will pay customers when they hand in their old telephones. You can request a valuation via the KPN website and telephones are offered refurbished, or parts are recycled. KPN is working on this together with the company Recommerce.

Old telephone at KPN

KPN customers who still have an old telephone can now check via the provider’s website how much their device can still yield. This was previously possible via the store, but now you can exchange a phone completely online and you will receive an amount deposited into your account, depending on the remaining value.

The telecom provider refers you to partner Recommerce via the KPN website. You fill in the model and then you get questions about the condition of your phone. Eventually you will also see a calculation of the amount that Recommerce pays you. You can then decide to send your smartphone and then the final valuation will take place. If you agree, you will get that amount refunded, otherwise you will get your phone back.

Refurbished increasingly popular

Your old phone is sold by Recommerce as refurbished, which means that employees replace parts where necessary so that the phone can be offered again. Worldwide, sales of refurbished smartphones have been on the rise since last year, according to a study. We recently explained what you should pay attention to if you are considering a refurbished phone. If your old phone is no longer suitable for sale, Recommerce will recycle the parts.

In its own words, KPN wants to encourage its customers to give used telephones a sustainable future. The telecom provider has set itself the goal of being almost completely circular by 2025. KPN introduced the ecosim, for example, made from used refrigerators. Do you want to know more about repairing phones and making sustainable choices with tech?
