You can live in this monastery! If you can afford it
There is a monastery for sale in the Netherlands that you can live in. Costs a bit, but it is heavenly living.
My god, this is a nice house. It was a monastery, you can still see that. But it has been completely converted into a house. The old and former monastery is located in Elshout in North Brabant. The broker does throw in marketing terms and says that the object is ‘unique’. That may well be true, because the former monastery was converted into a residential villa in 2011.
Living in a monastery
The broker uses some superlative sales terms, but he is right. It is a unique property. Also because the monastery is beautiful from the outside. That is not the case with all monasteries. A builder used to live in the building and he is now putting it up for sale. The builder already bought the property in 2009. He has thoroughly overhauled the monastery, resulting in the current residence. The house can be divided into three connected buildings. According to the broker, ‘all with their own identity and yet attuned to each other’.
Price
All this is not cheap. You have to pay more than 3 million euros for it. If you can do that, you will get a sleek home in return that meets all modern requirements. In the chapel you can also find a bar, what more could you want? There is also an old school building, which you can convert into apartments (six should do the trick), so you can earn some money. A good deal you would say. You can look inside!
