Xiaomi is working on a smartphone with a 192-megapixel camera and 16-in-1 binning
We can expect new innovations in the cameras from smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi. Now the message is circulating that Xiaomi is planning to provide a device with a 192 megapixel camera, including 16-in-1 pixel binning.
192 megapixel camera
It is reported that Xiaomi is planning to launch a high-end smartphone with a high-resolution camera. Forget the 12, 48 and 64 megapixel camera; Xiaomi wants to place the 192 megapixel camera in a future model. Earlier it became clear that Samsung would be developing a 200MP lens, and Xiaomi would like to use it in a device first. It’s not exactly 200 megapixels, but 192 megapixels.
The camera would use 16-in-1 pixel binning. This improves the quality of a photo. We’ll go into more detail in our previous article on what to look for with smartphone cameras. This should make it possible to take photos from 1x to 4x zoom without affecting the camera quality. The output resolution remains 12 megapixels.
The Xiaomi Mi 11 with 108 megapixel camera
The smartphone that would be equipped with this will be the successor of the Snapdragon 888. This is still going around in the circuit as the SM8450, but will probably be the Snapdragon 895. In addition, the device will have continuous screen edges on the side and a single opening for a front camera. It is therefore clear that it will take a while until we see Xiaomi devices with an under-display front camera. According to the source, the smartphone will no longer be released this year. The phone, which may be the Xiaomi Mi 12, is expected in late December-early January. The timing is partly due to the availability of chips.
