Xiaomi is testing new widgets that look like they are from iOS
On the occasion of the introduction of the Mi MIX 4, Xiaomi also introduced an improved version of the MIUI 12.5 superstructure, which will focus only on optimization. However, it turned out that in the new version of MIUI, it also updated widgets and the way they are placed on the home screen. The Gizmochin portal informed about the news.
After updating, users can place 2×2, 4×2, 4×4, and 2×2 widgets on the home screen. A widget store has also been added to the extension to download and then place new widgets. System application widgets have also been updated to work with the new system.
New widgets are currently only available for MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition or MIUI 12.5 beta
The new feature is available in the latest beta version of App Vault (V5.0.56) and MIUI Gallery (V2.2.21). Currently, these app versions can only be installed on devices running the beta version of MIUI, which is based on Android 11.
This means that although this feature appears to be part of MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition, it can also be tried out by users of devices running MIUI 12.5. However, they will need to sign up for beta testing, which can only be done by August 27.
According to Xiaomi, the new system will be tested from August 17 to October 20. This suggests that users of the stable version of MIUI will have to wait a few more months for the news.
