Xiaomi is developing a smartphone that pushes the limits of what is possible

Xiaomi probably wants to know right. The Chinese company is planning a smartphone that is equipped with a display that pushes the limits of what is currently technically possible – but maybe even beyond.

Xiaomi is planning a smartphone with a quad-edge display

We are already familiar with so-called dual-edge displays and waterfall displays from many smartphones. The screens on the right and left side extend beyond the frame of the smartphone, creating a borderless look. According to a patent, Xiaomi wants to create an even better effect (source: LetsGoDigital). The Chinese company wants that Display on all four sides and pull the edges of the front of a smartphone. Then it would look like this:

If you were to look at the Xiaomi smartphone from the front, you would only see the display. The frame disappears completely. The same applies to the buttons on the sides or a USB port. So the Chinese company doesn’t just want to build a completely rimless cell phone, but at the same time a device without buttons, which can only be charged wirelessly. A sub-display camera is of course also part of the equipment so that there are no unwanted interruptions in the display. The only question is how to turn on the cell phone.

Perhaps the revolutionary charging function from Xiaomi will also be used in the smartphone, which you can find in this Video can see:

Will this Xiaomi smartphone become a reality?

The technical challenge of actually building such a display is likely to be incredibly high. Especially at the edges, we cannot currently imagine how Xiaomi would like the display to be so smooth. This is almost impossible even with a thin film. However, it is conceivable that at some point smartphones will be implemented without buttons and connections. We’re at the display still skeptical because of the technical challenge, but let Xiaomi teach us better.
