Xiaomi develops unique smartphone that Samsung doesn’t even think about

Xiaomi is known for crazy ideas for smartphones, some of which are even built. Now it has become known that the Chinese company is developing a unique folding cell phone that Samsung doesn’t even have on its radar. It could solve all the problems of foldable smartphones and add great value.

Xiaomi is developing a folding phone with a detachable display

Foldable smartphones are on the rise. Many manufacturers want to build such devices or have already done so. Samsung is currently the leader when it comes to folding cell phones. Over 90 percent of all devices sold come from the South Koreans. But the competition does not sleep, Xiaomi is planning an interesting development. The Chinese company wants to build a foldable smartphone in which the Half of the display can be removed and used as a smartphone (Source: ITHome).

With the new idea, you would have a large screen available when you need it, but not have to lug around the extra weight if you just need a smartphone on the go. The disadvantage with this idea would be that one does not have a continuous screen available. Similar to the Surface Duo, you would use two displays that work separately from each other. In contrast to the Microsoft device, the folding cell phone from Xiaomi could be shared.

However, the extension will not be completely useless. In fact, the shared Xiaomi smartphone can still be used with both screens. Because it should have a wireless connection. So you could give away half of your smartphone and watch a film together or play against each other if the other person doesn’t have their own device with them. The possibilities are manifold.

How Xiaomi plans to charge wirelessly through the air:

Xiaomi does not implement all patents

So far it is only a patent from Xiaomi, but it would be an interesting idea how to make foldable smartphones even better. Samsung, on the other hand, is working on the classic designs, where a smartphone can be folded out into a tablet or folded up like a folding cell phone from the past. In any case, the Chinese company would have an advantage here with unique functions.
