“Xiaomi brings this flopped feature back to smartphones”

However, they did not know how quickly she wanted to get rid of it after this. Nevertheless, according to the latest rumors, Xiaomi seems to want to make a new attempt.

Motion Sense is a fiasco

According to the latest rumors, Xiaomi is working on a new Motion Sense feature. This was a feature on the Pixel that allowed you to control your smartphone without touching it. By moving your hand across the screen, you could operate the Pixel to a large extent.

To detect your hand, Google used a Soli radar. You could, among other things, operate your alarm and snooze it and control the YouTube and Spotify app. Google marketed the feature big time and Motion Sense was the USP for the Pixel 4 (XL) it makes. For example, it would be super handy if you had dirty or wet hands, but practice showed that it didn’t work well. It never lived up to expectations. In fact, the feature annoyed many people. For example, it often did not react or reacted much too sensitively.

Samsung already had a function in 2013 that allowed you to operate your phone without touching it. For example, you could even operate the Galaxy S4 with your eyes. But you guessed it, this also did not work flawlessly. Still, Xiaomi wants to make another attempt. So reports a rumor Twitter.

Operate the screen without touching it

The Chinese manufacturer is said to be working on a device that you can operate without touching it. This should make it possible, among other things, to skip music tracks with a swipe over the device. The function should work optically, unlike Motion Sense.

The images suggest that the feature would come in Xiaomi tablet, however, there are also rumors that the manufacturer wants to integrate it into smartphones as well. It is not yet known exactly on which devices we can see it for the first time.
