Insert copyright sign on PC (Windows & macOS).
Depending on whether you use Windows or macOS as the operating system, there are different key combinations to write the © symbol. If you don’t want to remember any key combinations, you can of course copy the copyright symbol directly from this website.
macOS
With an Apple computer you simply write the copyright sign on the German keyboard with the key combination: Old + G. If you use the Swiss key assignment, you have to enter the key combination Old + Cuse.
In some programs, macOS also automatically converts a c in brackets, i.e. (c), into the copyright symbol.
Windows
With the German key assignment of Windows there are unfortunately no short key combinations to insert a copyright sign. If your keyboard or laptop has a number pad, you can at least use the following combination:
- Old + 0 1 6 9 (on the numeric keypad)
Instead of memorizing this number combination, it is easier in Windows 10 & 11 with the key combination Win + . open the emoji and special character keyboard. Click on the tab “Ω Symbols”under “< General punctuation marks" you will find other trademark and copyright symbols in addition to the copyright symbol.
