Wrath of the Druids » Vortex
So far, the last part of the Assassin’s Creed series received the first paid DLC – Wrath of the Druids. As part of the new story, Eivor goes to Ireland, where he will be at the disposal of his cousin Barid, King of Dublin at the time. As in the individual chapters of the basic part of the game, this time it is necessary to turn the wheels of destiny and cimrmanovským way to be essential. Barid not only fights with his enemies, but also fights a constant battle for his reputation and loyalty, which he wants to gain from the great king of Ireland, the mighty Flan. But the druids and their dark counterpart in the form of the Children of Dan clan get involved in all this, and there are another approximately 15-hour adventure in the world with which you can extend your stay in Valhalla.
Fulfillment quests are only meant to accelerate the reputation and recognition of other kings to help you in a shortened battle for one of the forts.
But keep in mind that the Ubisoft developers didn’t take any chances and disguise themselves very badly, that Wrath of the Druids only follows in all directions what you were doing tens of hours before the DLC arrived. The new element in the form of liberation and re-establishment of trading posts is just a condensed version of the obligatory mining of bases and village administration. For a change, the Search for Children of Dan is a copied element of the search for cultists, including the same way of obtaining clues. Fulfillment quests are only meant to accelerate the reputation and recognition of other kings to help you in a shortened battle for one of the forts. And, of course, there are also raids on a handful of abbeys in Ireland, or synchronization of areas to see all the local treasures and artifacts. If you’ve enjoyed Valhall but have nothing to discover, druidové you will undoubtedly come in handy, otherwise and with anticipation something new you will probably be disappointed. The current DLC has not been able to get rid of even technical problems, ie many glitches, collisions or rough animation, and you can also count on the dialogues to look like theatrical preparations.
However, it is still a game that many studies would not hesitate to describe as many years of work and a full-fledged experience, which significantly improves the processing of the game world, musical background and some moments that look mysterious and unpredictable, at least for a while. Unfortunately, this is not a more than slightly above-average work.
- Thanks to the pleasing graphics, Ireland has a fresh and unobtrusive impression
- The musical background, together with the colors of the world, underlines the effort to present a slightly different folklore
- Some characters radiate a certain aura of mystery and sometimes you do not know in advance what exactly can happen
- It is a generous addition, the complete extraction of which can take several tens of hours
- The developers don’t really bring anything new and just recycle the mechanisms from the original game
- DLC suffers from the same technical problems, which include a large number of glitches, collisions with objects and strange animation
- The story of the game, albeit with a promising plot, kills silly dialogues and indistinct characters
- Some elements – such as the administration of Dublin or the occupation of trading posts – are clearly extra and, above all, players do not bring anything significant
- The mysterious line around the dark druids isn’t really mysterious, and I’m guessing you’ll be clear about the leader halfway through the game.
DLC Wrath of the Druids suffers from Ubisoft’s sweep and megalomaniacal approach. The expansion does not bring any new mechanisms, although they can look like that at first glance and only bet that players buy the package simply because it is the “next” Assassin. If you don’t mind this approach and you’ve enjoyed Valhall, you can continue after dozens of hours. But if, on the other hand, you were expecting something new, you will be disappointed and you will probably quickly notice other general shortcomings as well. Then the new map will suddenly not seem so big, you will not come across a lot of varied content and you will be left with only a box along the story line, which will force you to an obligatory grind.
