with three functions for your health

The Apple Watch is slowly becoming your most important buddy. Because there will be three new health features in the future Apple Watch that might save your life in the future.

Read on after the ad.

The new Apple Watch features for your health

The Apple Watch can do a lot. For example, you can (using your iPhone) call and text, navigate and it is your most important companion during exercise. But did you know that there has never been a mobile device that cares about your health as much as the Apple Watch?

However, it doesn’t stop there, because a few more functions for your health will be added soon. Especially if we are to believe the rumors of the new series of Apple Watches.

Measure blood sugar with the Apple Watch Series 8

We’ve been hearing a lot of rumors about a glucose meter with the new Apple Watch for a long time. However, it never really happened. At the beginning of 2021, there were already rumors that a blood sugar monitor would be added to the Apple Watch Series 7. Unfortunately, this was not the case, but the rumor mill is running at full speed and we hear from various quarters that this is now becoming reality for the Apple Watch Series 8.

These new health features on the Apple Watch are extremely useful for people with type 1 diabetes. When their blood sugar levels are (too) low, they can pass out. The Apple Watch Series 8 can then warn you in time to take something sweet.

Fortunately, you don’t have to wait long for it, if we are to believe the rumors. The Apple Watch series 8 will be released in the fall of 2022.

Apple Watch Series 8 measures your body temperature

The Apple Watch Series 8 is also rumored to have a sensor to measure your body temperature. This is primarily intended to help women figure out their fertile days.

Around ovulation, the body temperature rises by about 0.3 degrees. This should pick up the sensor. Perhaps the smartwatch can then (in the long run and after some software updates) also detect a ‘normal’ flu. If only we had this functionality during the last pandemic!

Confirmed health feature: watchOS 9 with ECG

Currently, the electrocardiogram (ECG) feature on your Apple Watch may be showing the first signs of atrial fibrillation (AFib) identify. This is a heart rhythm disorder in which the heart no longer contracts calmly and regularly as normal, but much too fast. Left untreated, this condition can lead to a stroke. Thus, this feature can detect a heart attack early.

However, the new software for your Apple Watch, WatchOS 9, offers more. This can change the frequency of AFib follow over a longer period of time. The user’s heart rhythm is then better mapped with the Apple Watch. A heart doctor can use this (extra) information for a treatment plan. We expect this software update sometime in September 2022.
