Soft and translucent: What was standard in Windows 7 and Vista should also be reintroduced in Windows 11. With the next major update, support for the old “Aero” design will come back in part.

Windows 11: “Aero” design of Windows 7 before comeback

Microsoft wants open the theme of Windows 11, a new report suggests. Accordingly, the group can certainly imagine allowing more options for programs to look like with the next major update. According to a first teaser, the focus is on the “Aero” design that was introduced with Windows Vista in 2007 and refined with Windows 7.

If Microsoft is serious, then among other things, program windows at the top level will get one “new” transparency effect reminiscent of acrylic (Source: Windows Run on YouTube). Transparent title bars for classic applications would actually celebrate a comeback. A first screenshot shows what this could look like in practice:

For Microsoft, that means soft and translucent design a real throwback. With the release of Windows 8 and its successor Windows 10, Microsoft dropped support for rounded corners and “Aero” in favor of a flat and color-neutral user interface. Should Microsoft now concentrate entirely on the old design again, then the role backwards would be perfect.

Regardless of the design, Windows 11 can not only be installed on new computers. All details in the video:
