Will we unlock smartphones with veins? Oppo has patented an interesting technology

Oppo recently obtained a patent for a new technology that it can use in the future to develop wearable accessories. According to the Gizmochin portal, she patented the technology of unlocking with veins.

LG also tested the vein unlocking system of its time

The Chinese manufacturer applied for this patent in 2019, but it was only recently granted. According to the description, the patent is intended for the technology of unlocking devices by means of cores. In other words, it is probably a biometric system similar to facial recognition or fingerprint scanning.

In addition, this technology is very similar to LG’s Hand ID system, which can map the thickness and characteristics of the user’s veins and then use them to unlock the device. The technology patented by Oppo is likely to work on a similar principle.

Oppo on the new technology did not disclose further details

No more detailed information on this technology is currently known, but could be used in several types of devices in the future. Vein unlocking would be particularly useful in smart watches or bracelets, where other available biometric systems are not very useful. Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to say with certainty whether the company is working on a device with this technology or, respectively, sometimes.
