Will Samsung produce Pfizer coronavirus vaccines?
The license for the (co-) production of one of Pfizer’s most widely used coronavirus vaccines is likely to be obtained by a somewhat surprising brand – Samsung. It is expected that this cooperation will be the result of the current visit of the South Korean president to the USA. According to local media, Moon Jae-in has a meeting with Pfizer boss Albert Bourlar on the agenda. They will probably talk about May agreement with the US President Bidenem that South Korea could become Asia’s largest producer Covid-19 vaccine.
Currently, it is said that plans for an investment of two billion US dollars, ie approx 43 billion crowns, which is to get both states and both companies to this end. On the Korean side, the company should take care of production, among other things Samsung Biologics, one of the subsidiary divisions of the local giant. Another Korean company, SK Bioscience, for example, is to be included in the contract. Samsung has already been less involved in the fight against the spread of coronavirus directly in mobile phones. People can upload vaccination certificates to Samsung Pay.
