Will picture-in-picture on YouTube still exist?

Did we report this morning that YouTube is drilling a nice feature through our noses, it’s coming!

YouTube has long been known as the medium for videos. There is also a lot of music involved. A frequently requested feature is that you can go to other apps without YouTube stopping. Preferably with a picture-in-picture display. As almost every app already does, except YouTube.

Picture-in-picture on YouTube

Fortunately, it was possible, provided you opened your wallet. YouTube Premium has this feature. Although we were able to report this morning that that function has disappeared in the trash. Any outrage about that is understandable. The reason why now seems clear. Picture-in-picture is coming back to YouTube. And you don’t have to pay a cent for it.

iOS 15+

YouTube will let you know in a tweet† Users of iOS 15 and versions thereof can expect the picture-in-picture capability soon. How it works: When you close YouTube, the video you’re watching remains open in a small corner of your screen. In the meantime, you can use other apps. Multitasking: very handy.

When exactly you can expect all this is not yet known. But people who have wanted this for so long are finally being served.
