Why the Xbox menu on your television looks better
Finally, Xbox comes with a feature for the Series X menu that should have been possible from the start.
Gaming in 4K HDR on the current, new generation, consoles. Delicious, yes! But what Microsoft hadn’t done so well until recently was the menu. Unlike competitor PlayStation, the Xbox Series menu was in 1080p. Not a huge point to bother you, but it still felt a bit wacky.
With the latest release of Xbox Insider Alpha Skip-Ahead (2109.210813-2200), that comes to an end. Finally, the Xbox menu has been dipped in 4k. Home, Guide and other elements of the UI have been upgraded to 4k. If you do not run this trial version, you will still be dealing with 1080p. It is expected that the general public will not receive the software update to a 4k Xbox Series X menu until this fall.
One of the big changes between the old generation and the new generation consoles is the transition from 1080p to 4k gaming. It is therefore unfortunate that Microsoft did not manage this with Xbox’s own UI. In the end it worked, but only a year after the release of the console itself.
