Why Apple products may become (much) more expensive in the future
Apple devices are often not cheap, but you may pay a little more next time for a product from the Cupertino company. This is why the iPhone may be (much) more expensive.
Read on after the ad.
Apple products such as iPhone more expensive due to higher chip prices
With suggested retail prices starting at more than 800 euros, iPhones are not the most affordable smartphones, but you may pay a little more in the future. Nikkei Asia (through MacRumors) reports that chip manufacturer TSMC is going to increase the prices of chips due to global chip shortages.
TSMC is an important chip manufacturer for Apple and makes, for example, the important A-processors that are in iPhones. For example, the iPhone 12 devices contain the powerful A14 chip, and TSMC also makes the M1 chip that is in various Macs.
It is not yet known when Apple will make its products slightly more expensive. However, Nikkei is talking about “next year” and says the price increase will be “noticeable.” Specific details are not given. The source does say that it is likely that especially high-end models will be made more expensive, so that cheaper devices do not rise too much in price.
Will the iPhone 13 get more expensive?
The iPhone 13, which should appear together with the iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone 13 mini, is presumably not more expensive than its predecessor. This means that the new smartphones will cost about the same as the current iPhone 12 models. For the iPhone 12, Apple uses a suggested retail price of 912 euros, while you pay 1162 euros for the iPhone 12 Pro. Meanwhile, iPhones have dropped in price a bit.
According to rumors, we will get to see the new iPhone 13 next week, because then Apple would organize a major event. The Apple event is likely to take place on Tuesday, September 14, and we believe Tim Cook’s company will send out official invites later this week. Possibly even tonight. During the event we also expect the Apple Watch Series 7 – which will be equipped with a new design and faster chip – and AirPods 3.
The iPhone 13 devices would go on sale on Friday, September 17, after which they will be in stores on the 24th. So we have to wait a little longer. Until then, you can read our expectations on the iPhone 13 overview page. And did you know that we are going to give away an iPhone 13 Pro?
