WhatsApp has been working on a new status feature for months. Selected Android users can now access the upcoming feature. This gives you much more freedom with your status messages and no longer has to take a detour.

WhatsApp starts voice status

In mid-July 2022, it was announced that WhatsApp wanted to introduce a new feature that would allow you to share voice messages in the status. So far, this was not possible in this form. Back then, no one could access the feature. Now it’s possible, at least for some users who have WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.23.2.8 installed. With a bit of luck you can from this version send a language status (Source: WABetaInfo).

If the new voice status function is active for you, a microphone symbol will now also appear when creating a status message, with which you can Record voice messages up to 30 seconds long can. As with other status reports, the voice message remains available for 24 hours. The status can currently only be listened to by contacts who have already installed the latest WhatsApp version. Otherwise the whole thing doesn’t work yet. Accordingly, you should rather wait a little longer until everyone can use the new feature.

The language status has so far only appeared in the Android version of WhatsApp, but will also appear for iOS in the final implementation, so that system-wide voice messages in the status can be intercepted by WhatsApp.

WhatsApp recently received a new feature that protects your privacy. This allows you to hide your online status and protect yourself from contacts as well as online services that spy on you. Anyone who uses WhatsApp should activate and secure this function.
