WhatsApp unlocks emoji reactions for statuses

So far, if you want to react to a status in WhatsApp from your friends or relatives, you have to write a message. That is changing now. Because with the latest versions of WhatsApp for Android and iOS you can simply react with an emoji. Unlike the reactions in chats, the emojis are not yet attached to the status message, but sent as a message to the creator. Everyone can now use the function.

You can easily react to a status in WhatsApp by swiping up. There you get the opportunity to write a message or to choose from eight predefined emojis. The emoji is then sent to the creator so that a new conversation about the status can arise. It is important that you have the latest WhatsApp version installed so that you can see the reactions to status messages with emojis.

WhatsApp could expand new function

You can currently only choose from eight predefined emojis when reacting to status messages. This limitation also existed initially when reactions to messages were introduced. Later the possibility to choose other emojis was created. That will certainly come with the status function at some point. Like back then, WhatsApp probably wanted to roll out the function first and see if it was really being used. If that is the case, the development will be expanded with more features.
