WhatsApp expands group function
WhatsApp has recently massively expanded the group function. It should no longer only be used for communicating with family and friends, but also by huge groups and companies. To accommodate this, WhatsApp made two changes to groups in the beta version of Android. The Title and description of a group can now be much longer. The title can now have 100 instead of 25 characters. In the description 2,048 instead of 512 characters (source: WABetaInfo). This gives large groups and companies more space to introduce themselves and share important information.
The new WhatsApp function is currently being rolled out in beta version 2.23.3.9 for Android and should be available to all users of the test version in the near future. As usual, it can always take a while for the latest version to get to you, so you may not be provided with it until a little later. Since WhatsApp the group function is increasingly coming into focus and more attractive to more people, the change comes at the right time. The competition from Telegram and Signal is fierce and has long offered many of the features that WhatsApp is only just introducing.
