WhatsApp lets you hide your ‘last seen’ status from specific contacts
WhatsApp is rolling out yet another new feature (for beta testers). In the future it will be possible to turn your ‘Last seen’ status on WhatsApp for specific contacts on and off. Read all about this handy privacy function in this article.

No one is stalking you anymore: ‘Last seen’ is a thing of the past
You know it… then you are relaxing on your couch undisturbed and you receive two apps. An urgent request that you really don’t have room for and an app asking if you want to drink a beer. With the beta version 22.9.0.70 it is now possible to open, read and perhaps answer one without being seen and ignore the others.
The ‘Last seen’ function of WhatsApp will soon be turned off and on for specific contacts. One may always know when you check your messages, for the other (more professional) relationship that may be a little less obvious. If it is up to WhatsApp, the same will soon apply to other privacy settings, such as the visibility of your profile pictures.
How do you turn off ‘Last seen’ on WhatsApp?
If you now go to WhatsApp’s Privacy settings, you can already turn off ‘Last seen’ for everyone. These settings can be found under the heading ‘Account>Privacy’. Now you can choose between ‘Everyone’, ‘My contacts’ and ‘Nobody’. In the future (and therefore already for beta testers) we will also find ‘My contacts except…’ in between.
This way, the people you trust can check in with you to see if you’re still alive (and when you’ve opened the app). At the same time, it is possible to remove the ‘stalkers’ even further from you. With this future update, using WhatsApp will become a bit less intrusive again.
