WhatsApp lets you forward messages to a maximum of one group

WhatsApp wants to further combat the spread of fake news. For that reason, further restrictions are imposed on the forwarding of messages.

Forwarding is further restricted

WhatsApp is testing new restrictions on forwarding messages via the chat app. New adjustments in the beta version of WhatsApp only make it possible to forward a message to a group on WhatsApp at most once. In this way, the messaging service wants to counteract the so-called chain messages. Especially with corona, many messages are spread that are seen as fake news and hackers also use the opportunity to forward messages. Not infrequently, fake news had and still has far-reaching consequences.

In 2020, WhatsApp decided that a message could be forwarded to a maximum of one other person. In 2019, this number was still at a maximum of 5 chats. In the latest beta, forwarding another forwarded message to more than one group at the same time is also no longer possible. The restriction is expected to be rolled out to everyone in the coming weeks.
