WhatsApp keeps crashing, what can you do?

The beta version of WhatsApp is a test version of the chat app and it can therefore sometimes work differently than you are used to. In the worst case, the app continues to crash and you can no longer send apps. Is that the case with you? Then this article can provide the solution.

WhatsApp keeps crashing

Many people are experiencing issues with version 2.21.24.11 of WhatsApp Beta. They will see the error message below when they start the chat app and all they can do is close the app and send feedback to the Meta subsidiary. There is a solution to be able to send apps again. Mind you, this one is not easy and is for everyone.

There are actually three solutions. You can wait for WhatsApp to release an update for the beta version. You can also downgrade to an older version of the app, but it is useful if you have made a backup. Otherwise, you won’t be able to import your chat history.

The third option is a bit more complicated. Didn’t make a backup, and don’t want to wait for an update? Then you can try to downgrade WhatsApp without losing your app data, by using the ADB (Android debug bridge) application. ADB is used, among other things, to directly install apps from a computer on an Android device.

First of all you have to USB debugging switch. For that, you need to enable the developer options first. Enable developer options by going to ‘Settings’–> ‘About device’ and then pressing the build number seven times. On the settings page you will then see an extra heading ‘Developer options’.

  1. Connect your Android phone to your computer via USB cable
  2. Download the official ADB tool and extract the zip file to folder on your PC. In the same folder you also place the APK that you downloaded via the link above.
  3. Rename the downloaded APK to app.apk.
  4. Right click in the same folder and select “Open in Windows Terminal” and type “adb devices”.
  5. Then type these commands to downgrade WhatsApp: adb push app.apk /data/local/tmp/app.apk
    adb shell pm install -r -d /data/local/tmp/app.apk
